Surface water is water that has collected on the ground or in a stream, river, lake, or wetland; It is related to water that has collected as groundwater or atmospheric water. Surface water is naturally replenished by precipitation and naturally lost through discharge to evaporation and sub-surface seepage into the ground.
Other Federal, State, and local organizations also collect water quality samples. Visit the following sites to explore water quality data or learn about water quality and your environment.
