Regulated Volatile Organic Chemicals
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets current drinking water standards for drinking water. All community and non-transient non-community water systems are required to conduct monitoring for regulated volatile organic chemicals (VOCs). These regulated organic chemicals are human-made chemical compounds which are known to be included in a variety of pesticides and industrial and commercial products, like degreasers, paints, and petroleum products. A list of the regulated VOCs that must be monitored for can be found below.
